The Library of Silences is a project that aims to collect and preserve silences from people and disciplines all around the world. We want to gather about 1.000 silences in podcasts lasting no more than one minute, so that people can listen to them for inspiration, to rest from the world, or to discover other silences.
It is an attempt to demonstrate that silences are unique and that each of us has our own.
Taking advantage of the dystopian silence created by the COVID situation we are living through, we felt encouraged to begin this part of the project — something we had never previously found the time to develop.
We ask three “simple” questions about silence to someone we admire or who inspires us — through their criteria, profession, career, thoughts, and feelings. Afterwards, we create this podcast and look for a conceptual image based on their idea of silence. Finally, we ask them to name two people whose silences they would also like to hear — the only condition is that they must be alive!
We would like to create a silent and connected network.
